I am currently working on “how games can adapt to various industries” and due to that, I have to interweave games in various industries.
The first industry that I am working in is the Creative/ Designing industry and the different sectors in this industry will be visited.
In this picture below, I am trying to design a platformer game on a quilt or knitted/ crocheted blanket.
I will use Affinity Designer to draft the design, any vector program or raster program can be used- Inkscape, Gimp Clipstudio Paint, Corel Photoshop, Adobe Photoshop Elements, Illustrator and many more
For the knitwear, to make it easier without having to use Double Jacquard or Intarsia technique to Machine Knit this pattern, I have opted for a square or rectangle using patchwork. I will knit in strips while changing colours and then join strips together to form the blanket. DesignAKnit (DAK) will be used in charting or designing this knitwear to enable me to generate crochet, hand-knitted and machine-knitted pattern for all bed sizes and clothing if I decide to make a jumper or jacket from the design.
For the Quilt, I will use AccuQuilt’s Qube and its Go Big die cutting machine. The shapes will be squares, rectangles and triangles. The AccuQuilt Go Big die-cutting machine will enable me to cut more pieces in a fraction of the time since it is an electric cutter and I will have more time for sewing the pieces.
I have to make these items physically and digitally then proceed to make a game to show that games or game mechanics can suit each industry.
*I hope to take you through this journey with video documentation of it if time permits.
