Ecoprinting Exhibition

Friday 4 October 2019 to
Sunday 6 October 2019

Eco printing, or botanical contact printing, is a way of transferring the colour and outline of leaves onto cloth or paper. It is a contemporary adaptation of the ancient tradition of colouring textiles with plants. The natural colours are soft and harmonious, and the process is respectful of the environment.

Local textile artist Caroline Nixon is a frequent visitor to Batsford, gathering fallen leaves and inspiration. Using foraged leaves and dye plants grown in her own garden, she creates beautiful botanically printed cloth and paper, which  is made into clothes, scarves, cushions and wall art. Despite the natural processes, the colours are permanent, and can even be washed in the washing machine.

From 4th- 6th October you can see an exhibition of Caroline’s work, and demonstrations of her techniques, in the  Education Centre at Batsford.
