Calling all Knitters & Crocheters!

The Brave Beanie Project is an American charity dedicated to using hats to brighten the lives of children with chronic illnesses and disabilities.
Children living with long-term illness can be nominated to receive a free handmade beanie hat. Recipients are invited to choose their own character or theme – be it a princess, a superhero, an animals, a dinosaur or whatever other imaginative creation they can come up with. Volunteers then knit or crochet a special hat out of supersoft wool to be sent to the child.
These special hats bring joy into the lives of children who are facing difficult situations everyday. Due to shipping costs, The Brave Beanie Project is only available to children in the United States at this time. However, you can support this special charity from anywhere in the world.
You can help by sending in a crocheted or knitted beanie. Free patterns and tutorials can be found on The Brave Beanie Project website or you can donate your own designs. Children request a huge range of characters and styles, so the more variety the better! Even if knitting or crocheting is not your thing, you can still lend a hand by donating yarn and supplies.
To get involved, or to nominate a child to receive a free beanie (US only), go to www.thebravebeanieproject.weebly.com or find The Brave Beanie Project on Facebook.
